Opposite forces create, sustain, and eventually destroy us. Energy/inertia, male/female, matter/mind, good/evil, idealism/pragmatism, Democrat/Republican, etc., etc.... The list of our sources of discontent goes on and on. They are the root of our controversies, our wars, our schizophrenia. In the midst of all this killing and consuming, this existential battleground, is real harmony, true spiritual maturation, even possible?
Perhaps life is an ongoing harmonizing of opposites. Adulthood may be the discovery of our own personal synthesis of disparate elements, our own transcendence over polarity.
One thing is certain. The human race will continue to be won one person at a time.
